"I was thoroughly pleased with my saxophone lessons and was truely greatful for the support Jamie provided me whilst I was learning. He is a calm yet thorough tutor and most of all he makes the lessons fun and interesting and would always come prepared with different materials on a weekly basis. I would recommend his teaching to anyone!" Isabella, Grade 8 Sax
What can I learn?
Jamie offers tuition for Saxophone (soprano, alto, tenor, bari),Clarinet and Flute. Sessions on music theory and improvisation are also available. Lessons are usually on a one-to-one basis but other arrangements can be made for small groups (please enquire before booking).
Do I have to take any music exams?
No, not if you don't want to. There are many people who enjoy making music but do not like/need to or want to take graded exams. I am more than happy to base your learning around the styles and songs that you like and will never force anybody to take an exam. However, should you wish to take one I teach from the ABRSM (Classical & Jazz) or Trinity Guildhall syllabuses.

Teaching History
After completing his Diploma in Jazz studies at the age of 20 Jamie began teaching peripatetically in Hampshire. Working for a number of primary schools and private music organizations he taught saxophone, clarinet, flute and piano. During this time he also became the assistant musical director of the Havant Clarinet and Saxophone Choir, an area ensemble that he had played with during his own time as a student. As a result of this position he also had the chance to MD his own 10 piece jazz band that was highly regarded and was selected to represent the Hampshire Music Service at several prestigious events. Since graduating with a First Class BMus(Hons) in 2009 he teaches privately in Newcastle as well as working as a visiting tutor for Sunderland City Council.
Jamie holds a current enhanced CRB disclosure and is a full member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians.
